Call for Presentations!

Peace Games is soliciting workshop proposals for our third annual conference to be held in Boston from July 16-18, 2008.  This conference will bring together teachers, family leaders, and allies in Peace Games partner schools to share best practices and re-energize themselves and each other.  Please carefully read ALL of the following guidelines to avoid submitting an incomplete or incorrect submission.

DATE AND LOCATION

The 2008 Peace Games Network National Conference will be held Wednesday, July 16 – Friday, July 18, 2008, at Lasell College, Newton, Massachusetts.

PROPOSAL DEADLINE
The deadline to submit proposals is 6:00 pm ET/3:00 PT, Friday, May 16, 2008. Please allow plenty of time to submit your proposal and do it as early as possible.

SUBMITTING YOUR PROPOSAL
We would prefer all proposals be submitted via email to nationalconference@peacegames.org. If that is not possible, you may fax your proposal to 617-261-6444.  Potential workshop leaders are required to:

  • Agree to the terms and conditions of the Peace Games proposal.
  • Complete all required fields in the Peace Games proposal application.
  • Proposals should provide clear information on the topic and details of the proposed presentation with purpose and specific deliverables rather than broad overviews of a topic.
  • Peace Games encourages potential workshop leaders to be creative in designing a presentation that fully engages the participants by including multimedia presentations, discussion questions or interactive exercises. Such presentations will be given priority.

2008 PEACE GAMES CONFERENCE PROPOSAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Maximum number of proposals that can be submitted per individual is two (2).
  • Unfortunately, not all presenters will be chosen from the RFP process. Each area of programming will have invited presenters as well. Therefore we encourage you to be as innovative as possible as we anticipate this process to be highly competitive.
  • In case of proposals including multiple speakers, Peace Games will correspond with the primary speaker only. It is the primary speaker's responsibility to notify all co-presenters regarding the status of the proposal and to pass on pertinent information and details.
  • Workshops will be 90 minutes in length, which includes time for questions and answers.

OUR MUTUAL COMMITMENT ONCE PRESENTATIONS ARE ACCEPTED:

Peace Games expects presenters:

  • To work closely and in harmony with conference organizers prior to the conference and meet all deadlines.
  • To recognize that a conference presentation is an opportunity to share information and give back to the Peace Games community.
  • To make no substantial changes in content, format, audio/visual needs, room set-up, identity or number of presenters without prior approval of conference organizers.
  • To design and provide high-quality PowerPoint presentations (if a part of your presentation), in electronic format, by the previously agreed deadline.
  • To respect Peace Games as the sponsoring organization with either positive or neutral comments from the platform.
  • To agree that they will be available to speak at any time during the conference and if selected, will agree to the day and time slot assigned.
  • To agree to Peace Game’s final decision regarding presentation room set-up.

In return, Peace Games will:

  • Provide a discount to the primary presenter (all presenters must be registered):  this includes registration fee, air fare, train fare (NYC), accommodations at Lasell dormitory, conference meals and conference materials
  • Provide evaluation scores of their presentation after the conference
  • Provide presenters with valuable professional exposure
  • Promote the session in conference materials
